A Brief on Some of the Implemented Projects

The Land Act

The government of Uganda/DFID funded this activity and PACODEF was selected as the implementing organization for the dissemination of information of the Land Act in Mbale district. This involved sensitizing the communities and local leaders about the New 1998 Land Act in Mbale district.

The FARMESA Project

RELMA Project

This is a continuation of the FARMESA project. Due to its overwhelming success, RELMA (Regional Land Management) project based in Nairobi, Kenya, and also funded by SIDA sought for the continuation of the Kumi and Mukono projects, which PACODEF continued implementing since April 2002.

Special Program on Food Security (SPFS) Project

Is a FAO funded programme whose overall objective is to improve food security through demonstrating economically viable sustainable methodologies for increasing agricultural production and productivity by developing water and irrigation among small holder farmers. The project was implemented in the districts of Jinja, Bugiri, Pallisa and Kumi. PACODEF was contracted to provide training to the farmers.

The African Development Foundation (ADF) funded Project

This was a five year funded project signed in August 2000 and was implemented for five years in the districts of Mbale, Bududa, Manafwa, Budaka, Sironko and Pallisa, focusing on micro-credit, savings and capacity building for NGOs and CBOs . This project targeted and benefited 2562 rural active women and men in the 6 districts. The beneficiaries were trained on issues, water and sanitation, personal hygiene, latrine construction and maintenance, HIV/AIDS prevention, Reproductive health and in addition to the entrepreneurship skills and capacity building.

The RMSP (Rural Micro Finance Support programme)

This was a government of Uganda micro finance Project for the rural population of Uganda whose main aim is to alleviate poverty. PACODEF implemented the project in Mbale, Bududa, Manafwa, Budaka, Pallisa and Sironko districts.

National Agricultural Advisory Services (NAADS):

PACODEF was contracted to provide services for farmer institutional development, participatory planning, monitoring and evaluation. Our services contributed to farmer institutional development, improved livelihoods, food security and sustainable agricultural development in the Districts of Bududa, Wanale and Sibanga in Mbale district. Poverty Alleviation and Community Development Foundation (PACODEF) was contracted by Bulambuli District Local Government to provide FID services for NAADS program in Bulambuli District with effect from July 2011. .
